ADADEVOH: THE QUEEN AND SAVING ANGEL OF NIGERIA 2014
Much has been written and said already about a woman who defied ominous trepidation of the cruel imminence of a catastrophic death driven by what they call Ebola, just in order to protect her more than 160 million fellow countrymen – Nigerians. In fact the story of the very rare, unique and supernatural courage of Dr. Ameyo Stella Shade Adadevoh cannot be over-told. And the reason is because not a few still do not properly understand the true setting in Nigeria at the time and space when the Ebola plaque suddenly materialized on the shores of the peace loving and pleasure connoisseurs Nigerians through the bad-belly instrumentality of the Liberian Ebola plague cargo-man, Patrick Sawyer.
In short most Nigerians as at that time did not know about the thing called Ebola, not to talk of taking any precautions against it. Besides it could be said without any fear of contradiction that not a few medical practitioners in the country at that time might have had just as-a-matter-of-course sort of knowledge of what is is all about from publications and books. But nothing could be greater and better than firsthand experience. That experience could only forcefully be shared by the team of medical practitioners of the First Consultants Medical Centre in Lagos that happened to be the epicenter the Ebola crisis during its short manifestation in Nigeria. And when they eventually did, the effect on the populace was instantly electric. Only then did Nigerians get to know that the Dr. Adadevoh who led her colleagues in a life and death battle with Ebola was a woman of iron character and whose heart was made of pure gold, from where her love for God and country pulsated.
The set of swift actions she set upon herself to take and the chain of advisories she passed on to her other junior colleagues immediately upon grasping the enormity of the challenges facing the country (but yet unknown to anyone else outside the medical centre) remains a living attestation to the fact the well deserved all the tributes being showered upon her posthumously. It is proof that she was specifically assigned the messianic role that she discharged most clinically well. Or how do you explain these questions? For example, Patrick Sawyer collapsed upon arrival at Murtala Mohammed International Airport on Wednesday, July 20, 2014, why did his handler decide to take him to First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, Lagos, a distance that would on any normal day take upwards to three hours to make, when the Lagos State Teaching Hospital Ikeja, is just of a stone-throw distance from the Airport? It will be interesting to know what consideration informed the choice of the Hospital. Since Patrick Sawyer is actually being associated in this country as something satanic, it is being suggested in some quarters that Obalende any day can be taken as one of the epicenters of population density within the Lagos metropolis. Can you just imagine any bag of mischief released there? Lord have mercy!
As the saying goes, however, "man proposes God disposes"! It is now strongly agreed amongst several believers that God’s saving grace actually predated the arrival of Patrick Sawyer with his evil machination, and that was why he was simply delivered into the Hospital where the angel of God in the person of Dr. Adadevoh, the Heroin of Nigeria, was going to "arrest" him and defuse and destroy his deadly cargo he was carrying. From the stories that filtered out during and after all that was said and done, we now know that immediately Dr. Adadevoh beheld Sawyer she knew that the hour had come for her to perform her messianic role. She knew that the battle code was like the typical "war of bees", in which they fight to finish!
She knew she could not lay her hands on the essential tools to fight the plague. There was no time to prepare better either because the monster was already at arms range. On the other hand no help could come from anywhere! A check globally produced negative result, as it was announced the world over that Ebola did not have any known drug or vaccine with which to treat it. Even the US of A, the presumed numero uno country of the world confessed that she did not have any, except an experimental sample Ebola virus drug called "ZMapp" that she claimed to have one single dose left, after using it to treat the American Doctor afflicted with the plague from Liberia. Then the news floated around that Canada had produced its own Ebola "cocktail" which she said was untested as it was also experimental. But before you could say "Jack Robinson" news floated around dubbing the Canadian experimental Ebola drug as fake, and therefore not good for human treatment. In the whole wide world there was nothing with which to stop the "rapacious" spread and advancement of Ebola. And in the meantime thousands were already dead and more are still dying and still counting by day in West Africa.
This was the setting when Ebola tiptoed its ugly feet into the innocent and utterly unsuspecting Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Nigeria that dreary evening of Wednesday, July 20, 2014. Nothing could be prepared against anything. And this is how Nigeria was thrown into its deadliest challenge in life. Thus the stark reality was that Nigerian were left alone in this wide world to grapple with the deadliest plague in history, at which time only one Nigerian woman saw it and knew it by first sight, and waited for no time to engage the demonic plague in gruesome battle of life and death, and most especially for the protection of millions of Nigerians, as she immediately took charge of the case herself, while instructing, directing, advising and cautioning her beleaguered colleagues on what to do and what not to do. On her part she gave her everything, including her life! Great and Noble soul, the Queen and Saving Angel of Nigeria 2014! May your darling soul rest in perfect peace. AMEN!

THE HAND OF GOD IN NIGERIA’S DEFEAT OF EBOLA
Many well placed scholars of religion are united in their strong belief that the mann er and timing of the arrival of the Ebola virus on the shores of Nigeria was meant to manifest the awesome majesty and glory of the Most High God. To demonstrate that He indeed is the covenant keeping God changeth not; and that His faithfulness towards those who approach Him and serve Him earnestly and sincerely, is as sure and constant as the morning star, just as the good Lord himself has promised in Matthew 11: 28-29 thus: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls".
What informed this rare conclusion on the part of the men of God include the fact that: at the time frame under reference, the medical team upon whose shoulders it fell to manage the satanic plague, did not know precisely what to do because there was no known drug or vaccine for the treatment of the virus in the whole wide world. Nigerians were simply left on their own! But there was one last hope. At times like this historically God shows His majestic sleight of hand; hence it is said that "necessity is the mother of inventions". But any way the medical team swung to action using the most powerful tool that God has endowed man with – the brain; and with faith as their chief armour, they contrived an old school methodology that they promptly deployed in action, because in the circumstances pre-utilization test was a luxury they could ill-afford. Thanks to the good Lord because the methodology miraculously worked and won the Ebola battle for them and their country

And all they did, as they later narrated, was recourse to the good old rules of "hygiene". They took to heart the famous quote by John Wesley that admonishes that "Cleanliness is indeed next to godliness". The actual physical action entailed the diligent manipulation of the law and guide for the management of "de-hydration" with "hydration", measured administration of antibiotics and sanitization of the environment. That is it, simple as it comes. Against the background of the horrendous trade mark of Ebola in West Africa and thousands of lives that it has claimed in its wake, it is hard to believe that these routine hygienic tools were the only armoury that the Nigerian medical team used in bulldozing Ebola off Nigerian shores within record space of time.
Truly, if video of the happenings during the Ebola war days were to be reviewed today there can be no way of escaping the conclusion that the invisible supernatural touch of the Most High God was at play. Beginning from the unusual unity front mounted between the PDP controlled Federal Government of Nigeria and the APC controlled Lagos State Government. There was this unbelievable unanimity of purpose in the air. That purpose was to collectively defeat Ebola and save the life of the nation and her peoples; for after all, death is no respecter of any political cleavage. Even the APC controlled Government of Rivers State did not want to be out-done when due to an accidental mix-up when contaminated individual quarantined in Lagos jumped quarantine and travelled to the Rivers State. With the help of the Rivers State Government the subject was promptly arrested and returned to the quarantine in Lagos.
Similarly, the over-sensitized populace by now responded as of one man to the rapidly evolving scenario. Behavioral pattern suddenly changed and became governed by hygiene rules and some extra: including no hand-shaking, a widespread cultural form of greeting in the public. Banks and major offices mounted sanitizers at the entrance of their offices. You must sanitize your hands before you are allowed in. People were happily cooperating with this new way of conduct. As the medical team intensified on the perfection of their newly formulated modus operandi in the life and death fight with Ebola, the ever prayerful Nigerian never relented; and God answered the outpouring of prayers from Christians, Muslims and Traditional Religion, them all: prayers day and night.
The arrow head of the Nigerian fight against Ebola was Dr. Ameyo Stella Shade Adadevoh, a Senior Medical Consultant at the First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, Lagos, who boldly and defiantly sacrificed her life in the process. The surviving generations of Nigerian will forever be grateful to this woman of unimaginable substance. Her indomitable spirit and valor is comparably only to that of Joan of Arc, and great Bible women like, Deborah, Esther and Judith. We read from history that Joan of Arc was a peasant girl in medieval France, who believed that God had chosen her to lead France to victory in its long running war with England, even though she had no military training. With a presentation packed with fiery zeal, her wish was granted. She lead the French army to victory. But although she was to be betrayed and killed later, her indomitable spirit fought on in the spirit ream until she was posthumously reinstated and finally canonized a saint in 1920.

There are also these thriller type accounts of the three great Bible women, namely, Deborah, Esther and Judith and how they used what they had in the best possible way to save their nation – Israel from extermination. The thrilling accounts of these three great daring do women can be found in the Books of Judges 4 – 5 and Judith 1 – 8. Our own Dr. Adadevoh has joined this select club of the greats the membership of which is determined only by God. And there is no doubt that in the ensuing months and years tributes will continue to be showered on this exemplary selfless woman of our time; suggesting that she deserves the highest honour that our land can offer. For the lives of over 160 million Nigerians nothing can be too much to offer in honour of this woman of great spiritual virtue – a woman of timber and caliber.
The clamor now is as to when the first salvo of National Honour for her will take off. The situation now can best be likened to when the Catholics lost Pope John Paul II, there was over flowing of tears, mourning, and wailing. But just then it dawned on everyone that whatever has a beginning must have an end. And jolted by this fresh sense of realization, the crowd at the St. Peters Square roared in unism the Latin phrase "SANTO SUBITO!", meaning, "SAINTHOOD TODAY!" and which story has confirmed to any doubting Thomas today that "the voice of the people is the voice of God". Pope John Paul II was canonized as Saint John Paul last year, making him the fastest to be so canonized in the history of the Catholic Church.
Well, the clamour for well deserved highest national honour for Dr. Ameyo Stella Shade Adadevoh, may not be for sainthood, but for the highest that that the land can offer; PLUS befitting statutes of her resplendent self in as many visible public gathering places in Nigeria, and also not necessarily for "SUBITO", but with immediate effect and "automatic alacrity", soon after a new Government comes in place after the coming general election.
